In the eave of a single-story bungalow or in the gable or shed
dormer of a one and one half story bungalow the
siding material would change to shingles or shakes.
|
Gable ends were often used for venting in warmer climates with
the incorporation of screened openings that were embellished with
horizontal and vertical lattice work.
|
In areas where basements were not prevalent and homes were built
on post and pier systems, the siding would likely extend directly
down to a concrete footing or just cut short of the grade line.
